The Volkov Law Group is pleased to announce the promotion of Matt Stankiewicz to Partner, and the addition of Ameer Gopalani as Senior Counsel to the Firm.

Matt Stankiewicz has distinguished himself as a seasoned and talented attorney, who is committed to integrity, ethical values and delivering high-quality, client service.  Matt joined the Volkov Law Group in 2013, while completing service as part of the Ethics and Compliance monitorship for BP stemming from the Deepwater Horizon disaster. Matt has distinguished himself for his supervision and handling of complex risk assessments, compliance program assessments, anti-corruption compliance (FCPA and UK Bribery Act). OFAC sanctions risks, and anti-money laundering compliance.  In the recent years, Matt has developed compliance expertise concerning digital currencies. 

Matt served as co-counsel in the representation of Lt. Col. Alexander Vindman in the House Impeachment hearings.

Matt is a technical guru and regularly advises clients on difficult compliance and technology issues in the anti-corruption, digital currency, trade sanctions and money laundering areas.

Ameer Gopalani is a talented and distinguished compliance counsel, investigator and litigator.  Ameer has over 15 years’ experience in leading internal investigations and designing/implementing ethics and compliance programs for organizations in multiple industries, subject to regulatory restrictions.  Ameer also worked as a counsel for the U.S. House of Representatives’ Judiciary Committee.
